Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Award & “Best Hotel in St. Moritz”

Philippe Clarinval, Director of the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz: “Here at the Carlton Hotel, we are delighted about these awards and, as the brand new Hotel Director, I would like to give 100% of the credit to my new team.”

With the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Award, the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz has been named the “Best Hotel in St. Moritz”. The Carlton Hotel was ranked third in the “Best Hotels in Switzerland” behind Geneva’s two luxury hotels, Hotel d`Angleterre and Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues. The five-star hotel was recently also awarded the title of “Switzerland’s Leading Hotel” for the second year running at the “World Travel Awards”.

“We are over the moon and, as a team, extremely proud of these two independent awards”, explains Philippe Clarinval, who took over as Director of the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz on September 1.

“Receiving the equivalent of two Oscars at the same time is motivating us for the start of the new winter season”, enthuses the 42-year-old who previously spent seven years as the Managing Director of the Omnia Mountain Lodge in Zermatt.

More than 300,000 US readers submitted their votes and travel reviews for the annual poll of the Condé Nast Traveler publishing house. The results will be published in the November edition of the magazine and are available on-line from today at www.cntraveler.com/rca.

The “World Travel Awards” are regarded as some of the top awards in the international tourism sector. Every year, hotels from all over Switzerland that successfully blend amenities and service to create a unique experience, receive nominations in the "Switzerland's Leading Hotel" category.

The Carlton Hotel St. Moritz will start its new winter season on December 8. This year's highlights will again include the “Polo World Cup”, “White Turf”, and Urs Wiederkehr’s outdoor butler service. The 52-year-old has lived in St. Moritz for more than 30 years and, as a former ski instructor, knows the Engadine like the back of his hand. “Last winter, Urs was a true must-have for our guests, and this is why we decided to expand the service”, explains Mr. Clarinval. The exceptional chaperone service is based on Urs's local knowledge and social network, and focusses on hidden jewels, insider tips on culture and history, traditional craftsmanship, and regional food production. This winter, for the first time, the service can be booked for small groups.
