Top athletic performance and the excellence of Swiss luxury hospitality
Alps crossing de luxe – with the Tour de Tschuggen from Arosa to Ascona
Ready for the Alps!
Stefan Noll, Director of the Tschuggen Grand Hotel Arosa:
‘The Tour de Tschuggen is an Alp crossing from Arosa to Ascona, combining top athletic performance with the luxury of our five-star hotels. We firmly believe that Arosa and Ascona are the ideal training destinations for road cyclists – the Grisons` nature and high altitude of Arosa and the mild climate and Mediterranean flair of Ascona.’
The Tschuggen Hotel Group is focusing on cycling as a sport this summer. With an accompanied Alps crossing from Arosa to Ascona, guests can test their limits, experience top performance together and benefit from the location and exclusivity of the five-star hotel.
Tour de Tschuggen, 29 June to 1 July 2018
Starting at Tschuggen Grand Hotel in Arosa at an elevation of nearly 2,000 metres, the tour heads to Chur, past the breathtaking Viamala gorge and up the winding road of San Bernardino Pass, before concluding with a long and high-speed descent through Val Mesolcina towards Ticino. Once they arrive in Ascona, the road cyclists can expect a Mediterranean ambience and a range of premium wellness offers at Hotel Eden Roc.
This is by no means a new clientele for Andreas Gartmann, Director of Hotel Eden Roc: ‘Cyclists come to us at Lago Maggiore to take advantage of the mild temperatures of the south and the ideal training conditions around the lake,’ he explains. The Mediterranean climate and more than 2,300 hours of sunshine a year make Ticino an attractive training destination for ambitious professional and amateur cyclists alike.
‘The Tschuggen Tour is the perfect opportunity for us to demonstrate the diversity of Switzerland’s landscapes as well as our exclusive hotel services,’ says his colleague Stefan Noll with delight.
‘From that point of view, we’re an absolute dream location for road cyclists!’ The road bike group is accompanied by a team bus for the entire journey, from Arosa to Ascona, which transports food and spare materials and offers a ride to exhausted cyclists.
The Tour de Suisse 2018 kicks off in Arosa on 15 June
The recently reopened Valsana Hotel & Appartements will host the BORA – hansgrohe team led by Road World Champion Peter Sagan, once they reach their destination. The completely rebuilt hotel at the entrance to the town of Arosa is one of Switzerland’s official recognised bicycle hotels and rounds off the Tschuggen Group’s cycling services to perfection. ‘We see road cyclists and mountain bikers as the ideal guest, whom we’d like to win over with quality, service and, not least, ambience,’ explains Corinne Denzler, CEO of the Tschuggen Hotel Group. In addition to the landscape diversity and various climates, the hotels are the perfect complement to the high-quality athletic experiences, she adds.
All three hotels offer a whole host of activities, road bicycle workshops and retreats during the summer. The ideal opportunity to train in the lap of luxury.

Valsana Hotel & Appartements Arosa –
The new Valsana boasts luxury where it makes sense, but otherwise tends to be relaxing. The rooms and apartments radiate natural warmth, whilst highly modern innovations have minimised the environmental footprint. An ice storage unit supplies the entire building with energy and heat, which before were provided with borehole heat exchangers and heat recovery. The huge wellness area features a relaxation pool, sauna area and gym – always with an unobstructed view of Arosa’s nature. Restaurant Twist forms the heart of the hotel, where guests almost feel like they’re at home. Just like there, ‘Arosa’s living room’ doesn’t have any strict rules and the menu is natural and contemporary.
